A Letter from the New Haven Schools Foundation regarding the Emma Blanco Memorial Scholarship and Emma Blanco Relay for Life Scholarship.
Dear JonJon,
We are so sorry to learn of your loss. We all loved Emma, so I wanted to pass along the condolences of our Board of Directors. Emma was an important part of our board and organization for many years, and she will be greatly missed. She also helped us make so many of our fundraising events successful. She was so creative and her ideas always added sparkle and shine.
With your permission, we would like to honor Emma through a program that she supported while on our board.
First, NHSF President John Shockley and our board would like to establish the Emma Blanco Memorial Scholarship. The board members will be making donations to this fund, and the scholarship will be presented to a graduating New Haven student in the Spring.
Additionally, the annual Relay for Life Scholarship will be renamed as the Emma Blanco Relay for Life Scholarship. This is funded by members of the RFL organizing committee who want to recognize Emma's battle with cancer, headed up by Michael Ritchie.
If any of Emma's friends or family would also like to make a charitable contribution in her honor, they can direct it towards one of her scholarships. 100% will go to the scholarship recipient. I will share the details with Emily Jacinto, who asked to put the information on the web page. I wasn't sure if you had another charity in mind, but many people prefer to make a donation in lieu of sending flowers. Do let me know if you prefer that Emily not share this information.

By check - Make the check payable to the New Haven Schools Foundation and mail it to us at P.O. Box 1574, Union City, CA 94587. Please write the name of the scholarship in the memo line of the check.
Again, we are so saddened by Emma's passing, and our hearts are with you and your daughters. Please let us know if there is anything any of us can do for your during this sad time.
